How much has changed in those years when I started at AboveNet / Metromedia Fiber Network. Not only has the data center industry become bigger and more well-known, but it is also an industry that has continued to evolve continuously in different areas.
Data centers were originally designed, built and managed for availability. Availability has improved over all these years and in addition, the data center industry has become way more sustainable๐ฟ and there are still many opportunities like heat ๐ฅre-use.
Most of my career was at Abovenet/Metromedia Fiber Network, which become Schuberg Philis in NL, after that at Royal HaskoningDHV, Equinix and since a few months ago I joined the “Green Side” as a Jedi at nLighten ๐ ๐
In addition, it was an honour to contribute to the Dutch Data Center Association, The European Data Centre Association – EUDCA, Climate Neutral Data Centre Pact & ISO/IEC30134 committee.
We can no longer do without our digital ๐ป world, of which data centers are an important part. It’s not as if you no longer need data centers when everything is in the cloud ๐คฃ
Looking back, these 2๏ธโฃ5๏ธโฃyears have been wonderful . I have learned a lot and am proud of what I have achieved together with many others. โWe are in this togetherโ.
